Dark Water

Your heart is big and this world is cruel, but you were never meant to carry the weight of the world.

Don’t you see it’s pulling you down and you’re drowning in shallow water. Open your eyes and see that it’s not too deep for you to stand. You aren’t the sacrificial lamb.

You try to numb the pain away, try to escape; building a refuge inside your mind…    But isn’t it lonely? Total isolation, secluding yourself in a place only you can find?

Don’t you see it’s pulling you down and you’re drowning in shallow water. Open your eyes and see that it’s not too deep for you to stand. You aren’t the sacrificial lamb.

I’m standing here, offering you my hand in the darkness. I know it’s hard to see and our fingertips keep brushing against each other, but when you take my hand I’ll pull you into catharsis.
